Home and Personal Care


Foamed products are common to the Home and Personal Care sector. Foams, and particularly microfoams (bubbles typically < 100 microns), convey a number of functional and sensory benefits to products as diverse as carpet shampoos, hair conditioners, shaving foams, skin sanitizers, pest control, stain removers, and moisturisers. The structure of the foamed product allows it to be deposited on a precise area without runs or drips, and for a small volume of the product to be uniformly spread with ease over a relatively large area. Visual and tactile cues from a foamed  product can generate user perceptions of indulgence, efficacy, quality, and novelty over a liquid product.


However, many foamed home and personal care products are generated through the use of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), typically from aerosols. The  TLT-Foamer technology offers an  alternative, sustainable method of foam generation for packaged goods. It also offers capability to generate foamed products from hand-held devices and fixed appliances related to beauty, personal care, grooming, home cleaning and sanitation.

TLT Foamer Implemented in a PET Aerosol
Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS) solution being foamed via the TLT Foamer implemented in a commercially available transparent PET aerosol (bottle, valve, & nozzle). The aerosol in this example is charged with compressed air at 5bar.










VOC-Free Aerosol Foamed Surfactant Solution
1% w/w cocamidopropyl betaine in water microfoamed via the TLT Foamer technology with compressed air at 5 bar . In this example a commercially available PET aerosol is used, but could be any reasonable aerosol body material (e.g. aluminium, steel).











Simple Surfactant System
2% w/w cocamidopropyl betaine in water micro-foamed with air via the TLT Foamer technology. The foamer technology has been implemented in a standard soda siphon to demonstrate potential use in an aerosol or hand-held device application.









High Solids Loaded Emulsion

Generation and dispensing of a high solids load, emulsion base foam using the TLT-Foamer technology. The aqueous foam formulation contains a light emulsion of liquid paraffin (10% w/w), cocamidopropyl betaine (5% w/w) and a high solids load of titanium dioxide pigment (30% w/w). The TLT-Foamer technology can produce a high quality micro-foamed product using only air (VOC free). The high pigment load can be seen as an opaque white coating when applied to the skin.
